About "Hereward: The First English Rebel"

An epic and inspiring story of passion and power, HEREWARD evokes the centuries-old theme of one man's fight against tyranny.

The original rebel without a cause, Hereward becomes an outlaw in his own land and a soldier to any master - until William of Normandy invades England. His transformation from hot-headed mercenary to passionate revolutionary rallies the disaffected of England to join his band of renegades on the Isle of Ely.

Two worlds clash - the impetuous Saxons, fired by the god-like Hereward to a romantic bid for freedom, against the ruthless, grey-suited Normans, servants of the Domesday world of William's joyless bureaucracy.

Eastern Angles brings this story of one of England's greatest heroes bang up-to-date - leather jackets and T-shirts mix with goblets and swords in a production that is as bold and daring as Hereward himself.
